Ninety one years ago this coming Wednesday, in the eleventh hour of one of the deadliest conflicts in human history, world leaders gathered to declare an armistice—an end to World War I.
This Wednesday, November 11—as landmark energy and climate legislation is debated in the U.S. Senate, and as world leaders everywhere prepare for the UN climate negotiations in Copenhagen this December—hundreds of Michiganders will gather in downtown Detroit for an Eleventh Hour Rally and March. We will speak with one voice to demand immediate Senate action that ensures clean energy job creation and environmental justice for Michigan, and bold climate protection measures for the world.
The event will begin at 2:30 pm with a rally at the Michigan Labor Legacy Monument at Hart Plaza. Speakers confirmed for the rally include:
- Bill McKibben, noted author, founder of 350.org, and organizer of the historic International Day of Climate Action;
- Ed Leary, member of the United Steelworkers;
- Rev. David Alexander Bullock, president of the Highland Park NAACP.
At 3 pm, we will march from Hart Plaza to the downtown Detroit offices of Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin, where we will speak on the street and deliver written statements to the Senators. View our march route here.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
